Research Fellow in Nanophotonics

The University of St Andrews is looking to ppoint a member of contract research staff within the Nanophotonics Group, to work on a Scottish Enterprise Proof of Concept project.  A person with excellent practical skills is sought to lead the work on optoelectronic device development, electronic design and packaging. The project targets the formation of a start-up company at the project end and it is expected the successful candidate would transition to the company at this stage.

Edinburgh Biosciences

Edinburgh Biosciences is a start-up based in the Heriot Watt campus. Its founder is Prof. S.D. Smith OBE. FRS who has a long, distinguished career as both academic and business entrepreneur. They are designing a new class of spectrometers based on super-continuum lasers and tuneable interference filters with a particular focus on bioscientific applications. Among their earliest products is an instrument to detect protein contamination on surgical instruments.
